Part 3 | Waiting On The Lord | Prepared For The Journey
Prepared for the Journey
“…they shall run, and not be weary…”
Isaiah 40:31
Have you ever taken your car to the service shop and thought, What is taking so long? I have somewhere to go!
You want them to hurry but you don’t want them to rush.
Because what good is getting your car back quickly if the problem isn’t fixed?
What good is getting back on the highway if the vehicle isn’t prepared for the journey?
Sometimes the mechanic even discovers something you didn’t know was wrong.
The delay may actually be protecting the journey.
And sometimes, that’s exactly what God is doing.
You’re saying, “God, when can I go?”
God may be saying, “I’m preparing you so that when you go, you can keep going.”
Starting is one thing.
Finishing is another.
God knows the entire road ahead. He knows the mountains, valleys, opportunities, responsibilities and resistance attached to your assignment.
You are looking at the starting line.
God is looking at the entire journey.
That’s why the waiting season matters.
God is building your endurance.
He’s working on your character.
Your discipline.
Your prayer life.
Your obedience.
Your wisdom.
Your ability to remain faithful.
Because where you’re going requires staying power.
Don’t compare your journey to somebody else’s.
Someone else’s car may leave the shop before yours.
Let them go.
Different journeys require different preparation.
The strength God developed in your waiting season will be needed when it’s time to run.
So don’t rush the preparation.
Let God inspect.
Let Him repair.
Let Him strengthen.
Let Him prepare you.
Because God isn’t only preparing you to arrive.
He’s preparing you to remain.
When He finally says, “Go,” you don’t want to travel five miles and break down.
You want to be prepared for the entire journey.
Run prepared.
Run strengthened.
Run your race.
And run so that you can finish.
