3. True Sons and Daughters Serve with a Clean Heart
Scriptures: Philippians 2:20–22; Colossians 3:23–24; 2 Kings 3:11
Paul describes Timothy as someone who sincerely cared for others and served alongside him as a son with a father. Elisha, too, was remembered for pouring water on Elijah’s hands—a practical expression of service.
Faithful service often begins with ordinary responsibilities.
It may involve preparing a room, welcoming visitors, helping organize an event, following through on an assignment, or caring for people after the gathering ends.
True sons and daughters care about the development of the house. They bring diligence and initiative because they want the work to flourish.
Their service is not a hidden bargain: “I will help you if you promote me.”
A clean heart can serve faithfully even when the work is unseen.
Serve generously and honestly, communicating your capacity so that your commitments remain dependable.
4. True Sons and Daughters Protect Dignity
Scriptures: Genesis 9:20–23; Proverbs 11:13; Galatians 6:1
When Noah lay uncovered, Shem and Japheth took a garment, walked backward, and covered their father.
The passage records their actions without explaining their private motives. What we can see is that they acted to preserve his dignity.
My application is this: Honor does not turn someone’s vulnerable moment into public entertainment.
I once attended a large conference in Miami with over 10,000 people present. When an equipment problem occurred during the preaching, the man of God lost his composure.
About five to seven of his sons and daughters—pastors, prophets, and evangelists—came forward and circled him. They remained until he calmed down, then returned to their seats. In that moment, they protected him from becoming a spectacle.
I cried because I saw a picture of the care I long to see in the church of my Father, Yahweh.
Covering dignity means refusing gossip and unnecessary humiliation. It also includes helping someone face what needs correction. Protecting a person must never mean concealing abuse or preventing necessary accountability.
True love seeks restoration.
5. True Sons and Daughters Build with Integrity
Scriptures: Romans 15:20; 1 Corinthians 3:5–9; Acts 20:30
Paul’s ambition was to preach where Christ was not already known. He also taught that one person plants, another waters, and God gives the growth.
These passages remind us that ministry is God’s work and that His people belong to Him.
If God calls you to build, do not use relationships entrusted to you as a means of secretly drawing people away from your father’s church. Do not create dissatisfaction so that you can present yourself as the answer.
There are people waiting to hear the gospel. Reach them. Serve them. Build with integrity.
I recently used the picture of a mature tree being repeatedly uprooted and replanted. Repeated disruption can damage its roots and weaken its growth. People also need stability, care, and time to become established.
A necessary change of church can be healthy. The issue here is manipulation, rivalry, and deliberate division.
True sons and daughters can follow God into a new assignment while treating the people and ministry that nurtured them with honesty and respect.
